In Saturday's first match at the Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata, Aizawl FC beat NEROCA FC 2-1.
PC Laldinpuia (37) and MC Malsawmzuala (56) scored the lone goal for NEROCA FC for Aizawl FC while Judah Emmanuel Garcia (49 ') scored the only goal for NEROCA FC. The Mizoram-based side moved to the second place on the table with seven points under the win, while NEROCA FC sits with four in 10th place.
With attacking intent, NEROCA started the match and should have opened the scoring within three minutes. In the second minute, Khanngam Horam collected Jude Garcia's pass, but a corner-blocked his shot. Horam came close to netting a goal from the corner once again, but his header was off target.
However, Aizawl created a variety of opportunities for herself. In the 15th minute, when Malsawmtluanga's header ended up straight at Bishorjit Singh's gloves, they checked the goalkeeper.
