According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has teamed up with its Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi colleagues to bid for two ICC World Cups jointly.

It also plans to form a consortium with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) in the UAE to host two T20 World Cups between 2024 and 2031.

According to Cricbuzz, the cricketing organization plans to host the ICC World Cups in 2027 jointly and 2031 alongside Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

It also wants to host two of the four T20 World Cups with the ECB while going it alone for the Champions Trophies in 2025 and 2029.

Since the 1996 World Cup, which the PCB co-hosted, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the SLC, Pakistan has not hosted an ICC tournament.

Pakistan was a member of the South Asian World Cup consortium in 2011. However, its matches were cancelled due to security concerns.

The PCB will face heavy competition from the wealthier BCCI, which wants to host the 2025 Champions Trophy, 2028 T20 World Cup, and 2031 World Cup, among other events.

Apart from the BCCI and the PCB, 15 additional countries have submitted proposals by June 30: Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, Malaysia, Namibia, New Zealand, Oman, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, UAE, USA, and Zimbabwe.

The ICC had initially planned an open-bid process, but it was shelved at the last minute favouring a less transparent decision made by its board.
