When a hitter is out of form, everything seems to conspire to get them out, and that's precisely what happened. Chris Lynn experienced this in the Big Bash when Sean Abbott made one of the finest catches you'll ever see to send him packing.

The Heat have succeeded in only two of their six BBL matches this season. This is with Lynn far from his best: 57 in their most recent start was his only half-century.

The Heat's sole hope of climbing out of a hole against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG on Wednesday was a Lynn masterclass, but the season's highest run-scorer could only manage 2 runs.

Lynn smashed a Ben Dwarshuis delivery beyond of cover in the fourth over of the game, but Abbott somehow made ground, dived, stuck out a right hand, and pouched a remarkable catch to send the Heat captain packing.

Brett Lee, a Fox Cricket analyst and former Sixer, commented, "That's the catch of the summer."

Jake Fraser-McGurk of the Melbourne Renegades was another contender for the title early in the season, but the experts in the commentary box decided that Abbott's catch had the edge because he removed the dangerous Lynn.

After the dismissal, the Heat's innings continued to deteriorate, and they were eventually dismissed for 105 runs, their lowest total of the season.

Given the way the game began, with Jimmy Peirson caught out in the first over before his squad had even scored a run, it was maybe unsurprising.

To make it 4-21, Tom Cooper hit an amazing six before being clean bowled by Abbott. The brilliant hit was followed by Lynn's departure and Sam Heazlett's dismissal in the sixth over.

Jack Wildermuth led the team in scoring with 27, boosted by Moises Henriques' drop of a sitter in the deep, while Ben Duckett and Max Bryant each added 21 and 22.

When the Sixers fell down 8-47, the low score appeared defendable.

With the game appeared lost, Abbott and Dwarshuis teamed up once more to salvage the Sixers' season.

Abbott was the hero once more, scoring the game-winning runs on the final ball of the game.
