On Monday, Kanta Prasad, the tiny 'Baba ka Dhaba' eatery recently in the spotlight on social
media, opened a new restaurant in the Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi. The new restaurant was
called 'Baba ka Dhaba' as well.
After a video showing him expressing his woes following his company's loss due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 80-year-old Dhaba owner who shot to fame went viral on social media in October.
It all began after a video on his Instagram account was posted by a food blogger, Gaurav Wasan. The video quickly went viral on many sites, with netizens asking everyone to eat food from the stall or donate money to assist the older man. The video went massively viral in less than 24 hours, and thousands of individuals turned up to Baba Ka Dhaba to eat food.
Almost two months later, Prasad, his wife, Badami Devi, and their son, Azad Hind, opened their new restaurant in Malviya Nagar, just a few hundred yards from the roadside eatery that the couple had been running for decades.
Prasad told them that they would serve both Indian and Chinese cuisines, sharing his new restaurant's details.
"We're pleased, and God has blessed us. For their support, I want to thank people. I welcome them to visit my restaurant. "Prasad told media people during his restaurant's inauguration, "We will serve Indian & Chinese cuisine here."
Prasad also told me that he has everything from furniture to workers in his new Dhaba. In his new restaurant, he has also mounted CCTV cameras. The kitchen is also huge in this new restaurant.
Prasad also shared: "Although only my wife and I will cook the food, we have also hired a helper for assistance."
A little walk away from his old eatery shop is Prasad's new restaurant, and he says he will continue to run his Dhaba as well.
