Real Madrid is looking to replace Raphael Varane with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

Varane is set to join Manchester United in the coming days after the two teams reached an agreement to see the Frenchman move to Old Trafford.

The World Cup winner is ready to leave Real Madrid after a ten-year stay, with the Whites agreeing to sell him for £41 million-plus add-ons.

Varane's exit will leave a void in the squad, especially since Los Blancos will also be missing Sergio Ramos next season.

Despite signing David Alaba, Jules Kounde is another prospect on the club's radar as a quick replacement for Varane.

Although Real Madrid is interested in signing Kounde this summer, Chelsea is considered a strong contender.

Chelsea seeks to bolster their defence with more youth since Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva are becoming older.

Real Madrid cannot afford to miss out on Kounde, an excellent alternative for Varane.

Kounde has received high praise for his recent performances for Sevilla, and at the age of 22, he will be a long-term replacement for Varane.

Kounde will need minimal time to adjust to life at the Santiago Bernabeu, having already played in Spain's top flight.

Real Madrid's defence will need to replace both Varane and Ramos if they compete for the title and perform well in Europe next season.

While Alaba is a great addition, Kounde would make them a solid defensive team. In the Spanish top level, the Frenchman's passing and ability to bring the ball out of the back is unrivalled.

Chelsea has already initiated talks with Sevilla to sign Kounde, so Real Madrid will have to move swiftly.
