Former ICC Chief Financial Officer Faisal Hasnain has been named the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) CEO for a three-year term, succeeding Wasim Khan, who left earlier this year. Wasim's term was supposed to finish in February 2022, but it was learned that he was upset after incoming PCB chief Ramiz Raja limited his authority, prompting his departure.

Hasnain, who will be in charge from January 2022 onwards, is no stranger to administrative positions. He was previously the managing director of Zimbabwe Cricket till 2018 and the chief financial officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC) twice (2002-08 and 2010-17).

During his time with ZC, Hasnain fought to rehabilitate the country's cricketing infrastructure, ravaged by significant financial obligations and a slew of irregularities, including political interference, which prompted the International Cricket Council to suspend the country.

He successfully obtained the hosting rights for the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers but eventually resigned due to the failure to qualify for the event of his country. He was a part of the ICC commercial rights sales cycles from 2007~2015 and 2016~2023.

Hasnain, a licenced Chartered Accountant in the United Kingdom, expressed his excitement for this "once in a lifetime opportunity."
